I am qualified to speak on dating from both my education and personal experience. I have indeed dated dozens and dozens of women, culled from social circles, internet, and cold approach. They have been everything from fellow professionals (PhDs and lawyers) to 19-year-old strippers and fast food workers. Overall though, I prefer MLTRs and multi-women poly arrangements to pick-ups and ONS.
Beyond that, as I said above to Rollo, I think there is confusion around the difference between equity and equality. I never advocate for equal. Equity is the “low investment” strategy that you liked. Give a little, see if they reply. Tit for tat. Reward good behavior with a bit more.
Personally, I think live-in cohabitation with a bit of plate spinning to maintain sexual interest is where that strategy ends. Marriage laws pretty much prevent any ability for equitable investment – the person with the resources is “all in” at that point. So, divorce laws would have to change before such a strategy could work in marriage. However, I can personally attest to long-term, mutually satisfying cohabitation through that strategy. I have an open thread conversation with Rollo going on that topic though… If I get him right, he’s advocating “plate spinning and dread” to mitigate the power loss for men in marriage, but it still is not an equitable exchange.
