I am currently very happily married to a beautiful Filipina. She comes from a culture that still teaches young women that wife is a job description not a retirement plan. When she got here to the US the first shock she had was that there were no servants. She had always had a yaya (maid). She called home to complain to her mother. Her mother told her she was married now and that she should get up off her ass, roll up her sleeves, and get to work. I told my wife she could call home to the Philippines to talk with her mother any time she wanted. Her mother also advised her that it was the wife’s job to meet the man’s sexual needs. This was an obligation not an option. She added that if she didn’t, don’t be surprised if a woman down the street would. Once again, let me say how much I appreciate my mother in law.

I can admire another woman in a visual/erotic sense without feeling the inclination to have sex with her if she is not in a relationship with me (e.g., I am in a relationship with someone else, she is in a relationship with someone else, etc.). It can confuse women, however, because there are a lot of unrestricted guys, and therefore this kind of visual admiration can be interpreted as expressing sexual interest (as in, wanting to have sex), where in my case it is not.”
